Final report and case studies, FarmGAS calculator
A final report of the FarmGAS
calculator projet has now been released. The report contains the results of
a number of case-study farm businesses.
“The FarmGAS Calculator has been developed to enable farm business managers to firstly gain a better understanding of the greenhouse emission implications of their farm management decisions, and also to provide a tool that will enable farmers to test a range of different farm management scenarios to gain a better understanding of potential future options.” says Mick Keogh Executive Director of the Australian Farm Institute.
This new release provides the results arising from a number of case-study farm businesses that have been analysed using the FarmGAS calculator, the first comprehensive, multiple-enterprise, greenhouse emissions calculator that has been developped for Australian farm businesses. The case studies detailed in the report include:
- Case Study 1: Dryland, mixed (cattle – weaners, sheep – wethers, winter crops)
- Case Study 2: Dryland, livestock only (cattle – weaners, sheep – prime lambs)
- Case Study 3: Dryland cropping only, crop areas = winter 60% summer 40%
- Case Study 4: Feedlot – Steers
- Case Study 5: Intensive piggery
- Case Study 7: Irrigated cropping (Queensland)
- Case Study 8: Beef production – Northern Territory
